Emeka Ike reinstates Nollywood actress suspended for biting colleague on set
The Emeka Ike-led faction of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has faulted the suspension of controversial actress, Crystabel Goddy by Ibinabo Fiberesima, the embattled former President of the guild.
An official statement signed by Femi Durojaiye, the national secretary to Emeka Ike’s faction of AGN, said:

“Our attention has been drawn to the purported suspension of Miss Crystabel Goddy by the illegal government of Ibinabo Fiberesima, for having an altercation with a fellow actress.”
Not only is the purported suspension spurious as Miss Crystabel Goddy is not a card carrying member of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) but it is also a reckless decision by those drunken with power.
“Even if Miss Crystabel Goddy were a member of our Guild, there are set procedures for dealing with issues bothering on indiscipline. Miss Goddy never faced any disciplinary panel to hear her case to determine her guilt or otherwise.
“Her purported suspension by Ibinabo is akin to jungle justice, which is alien to Actors Guild of Nigeria. For the avoidance of doubt, Miss Crystabel Goddy is not under any suspension by Actors Guild of Nigeria, and therefore free to continue her career, as we rebuild our Guild to make it once more attractive to young talents.”On Friday, 12 February, Crystabel and a colleague, Princess Chineka engaged in a dirty fight on a movie location in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos. “The Guilds and Associations in Nollywood have been duly notified of the suspension while the national and state task forces have been kept on alert to disengage her from all sets pending when the suspension would be lifted.
“The Guild has set up a high powered committee headed by the National Chief Whip, Empress Eneh to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the matter. Crystabel shall remain on suspension until the outcome of the investigation as stipulated by the constitution of the Guild.”
Hindu man hacked to death in Bangladesh after he ‘criticised the prophet Mohammed’
A Hindu man was yesterday hacked to death on the streets of Bangladesh by two men on motorcycles after he 'criticised the prophet Mohammed'.
It comes just a week after a university English professor was hacked to death by a gang of attackers while on his way to work in northwestern Bangladesh.
Nikhil Joarder, who was in his early 50s, was attacked with sharp weapons by two men on motorcycles as he sat in his tailor shop. ISIS has reportedly claimed credit for the brutal attack on Joarder.
Police officer Aslam Khan revealed authorities are investigating whether the attack is connected to a
2012 complaint that Joarder made comments against the prophet. Joarder spent two weeks in prison in 2012 and was released after the complaint against him was withdrawn.

It has been revealed that an African tannery located in Nigeria that supplies leather for Ralph Lauren shirts that sell for £2,000 has received funding from British taxpayers.
And last night in the UK, after the revelation was made, it sparked a furious reaction from MPs demanding an end to the UK’s commitment to spend at least 0.7 per cent of national income on foreign aid.
A Mail on Sunday investigation had discovered that The British Council provided cash for two failed
projects at the tannery in Nigeria, God’s Little Tannery, which is in Kano.
One scheme was to treat effluent from the factory, so harmful chemicals could be extracted, avoiding the pollution of a nearby river. It was halted because large fans needed for the process never arrived.
The other project was an attempt to make poultry feed from by-products of the leather production process. For several months hundreds of chickens were fed pomo – a food made from boiling cow, goat or sheep skin.
It is a porridge-like meal eaten by some Nigerians.
A control group of birds fed regular feed, maize and palm kernels did far better so the scheme was scrapped. Together, the schemes cost the British Council £10,000.
In September 2011 the British Council also spent £2,000 flying top British leather designer Bill Amberg to a fashion week in Nigeria’s capital, Lagos.

Jailed paedophile Adam Johnson attacked in prison showers by fellow inmate
Jailed paedophile footballer Adam Johnson was beaten up in the prison showers by another convict after refusing to clean hair from a plug hole.
According to DailyMail, new to Moorland prison in Doncaster, Johnson was assigned the task of cleaning the showers. He had been scrubbing all morning when one thick-set fellow convict asked him to remove a clump of hair from a plug hole.
But Johnson allegedly said he had already completed his task and told the demanding con to 'f*** off before asking him 'do you know who I am?'
'One of the cons told him to clean his shower again. Johnson ignored him and the other bloke really got in his face. Johnson then swore at him. The bloke punched him in the face and Johnson defended himself,' a witness told the Daily Star Sunday.
The onlooker said that the brief fight was broken up by other inmates before the guards realized and that Johnson looked shaken up afterwards.
The inmate added that Moorland has some 'pretty tough blokes' and Johnson had picked a row with the wrong one.
The former England winger was moved to the Doncaster facility to be closer to his ex-girlfriend Stacey Flounders, 26, the mother of his 14-month-old daughter, even though Frankland Jail in Durham was far closer to his home.
It is one of the UK's most modern facilities, boasting an all-weather football pitch, a games room and a gym.
It is understood that Johnson's parents, David, 55, and Sonia, as well as sister Faye, 23, regularly visit him there.

No one can stop us from grazing in the south — Fulani herdsmen
Herdsmen from different parts of Nigeria have stated that nobody can stop them from grazing their cattle in any part of the country, especially in the south. They described such restriction as unconstitutional.
The nomads, who spoke to SUNDAY PUNCH under the auspices of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, dismissed the ultimatums given by different groups for the herdsmen to vacate the southern part of the country.
This is despite the fact that groups, including foremost Yoruba farmers’ pressure group and ethnic
militia, Agbekoya Farmers Association of Nigeria in the South-West; the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (South-East); the Independent Peoples of Biafra (South-East); and some ex-Niger Delta militants in the South-South, stated their readiness to defend their territories should herdsmen attack their communities again.
Suspected Fulani herdsmen, who grazed their cattle from the northern part of the country to the southern part, had been accused of killing, raping and robbing members of their host communities.
The Enugu incident, where several lives were lost, was the most recent.
But the herdsmen, in separate interviews with Punch on Saturday, noted that it was wrong for people to restrict their movement as the constitution guaranteed their movement into any part of the country.
The Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Plateau State, Mr. Nuru Abdullahi, said nobody could deprive Fulani herdsmen of their constitutional right of free movement.

So, asking anybody not to go to any part of the country is unconstitutional.”Also, the Chairman, MCBAN, North-West Zone, Mr. Ardo Ahmadu Suleiman, warned against criminalising all Fulani herdsmen over the attacks.
He said:
“We are law abiding citizens of Nigeria. The constitution forbids anybody or group from banning anybody’s movement from one part of the country to another. We have been staying peacefully with tribes across the country for ages. Therefore, for anyone to say he wants to ban Fulani from entering their land is uncalled for.”
How my victim’s daughter ‘betrayed’ me – Suspected serial burglar
A suspected burglar, Samson Ugbusun, has revealed how the daughter of his victim gave him up to the police after he made love overtures to her.
Ugbusun, a 28-year-old bricklayer, was arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly breaking into the home of an unsuspecting resident at Etete, in Oredo Local Government Area of the state, carting away two mobile phones.
It was gathered that after he successfully carried out the operation, the suspect went ahead to invite his victim’s daughter to spend a night with him in his apartment.
According to him, he was later arrested by some policemen from the Etete Police Division after she
leaked his whereabouts to her mother.

When she came to my place, she told her mother my address and everything; that was how they got me.”He also blamed his alleged crime on family problem, adding that he stole mobile phones to enable him to generate the sum of N800,000 for his late father’s burial.
“It was due to family problems. My father has a house and my family (members) are trying to push me so that I would leave the house for them. They said that if I don’t bury my father, I can’t claim ownership of the house.
“I wanted to sell the phones on the streets. But unfortunately, they caught me and I returned the phones back to the owners. I regret it,” Ugbusun lamented.However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Osifo Abiodun, who confirmed the suspect’s arrest, said Ugbusun would soon be charged to court as a prima facie case of burglary and stealing had been preferred against him.
Abiodun said:
“Samson Ugbusun specialises in stealing from unsuspecting victims. He can steal handsets as if he had some powers to do so. Luck ran against him when he opened the window of the complainant at night.
“Constructively, he broke in and pulled the handset with a long stick, picked it from the window. The occupant raised an alarm and he was subsequently arrested. He has confessed to the crime, including other crimes he committed before.
“Very soon, he will be arraigned in court because a prima facie case of burglary and stealing is established against him; he will not go unpunished,” the police spokesman added.
